Term 1, Week 4

GBC Primary

Last Saturday marked Round 1 of GBC Primary at TSAC. SMC participated with 4 teams: 2 Netball and 2 AFL. All teams displayed commendable teamwork and sportsmanship in their respective games. The 3/4 Netball team played TSAC Blue first and, working well together, emerged victorious. Despite fatigue from the first match, the team faced Sheldon White next and secured another win. Great job, Team! The 5/6 team, the last to play, showcased outstanding performance, enthusiasm, and enjoyment of the game, resulting in a victory against Sheldon Sky.

Our 3/4 and 5/6 AFL teams competed at TSAC Primary campus, both executing well-practiced skills to secure wins. The 3/4 team demonstrated determination and high motivation, securing victory against Sheldon. The 5/6 team delivered a terrific game, utilizing precise passing, massive clearance kicks, and great team spirit to finish as winners. Well done, everyone!

GBC Secondary

Last Saturday, SMC hosted Faith Lutheran College Plainlands for Round 1 of this term’s competition. In Girls’ Basketball and Boys Volleyball, SMC achieved notable results, particularly with the Girls’ Intermediate Firsts and Junior Seconds securing dominant victories. Unfortunately, the Girls’ Senior Firsts and Junior Firsts faced strong opponents and ended up losing their games.

On the Boys’ Volleyball front, it was a highly successful and encouraging round. The Junior Firsts and Intermediate Firsts both notched up 2-0 victories against Faith. Additionally, our Intermediate Seconds engaged in a friendly match, serving as a beneficial warm-up game for the Firsts. Congratulations to all the teams!

In Junior Boys AFL, despite a challenging match against Faith and a slow start, our boys demonstrated remarkable resilience and tenacity. Although they faced a loss, their improvement throughout the game was evident, outscoring Faith in the second half. Keep up the hard work, boys.

Looking ahead, our Secondary teams have internal training at SMC this weekend, starting at 8 am. We are closely monitoring the weather and will keep families informed.

Devotion – Be real

Devotion – Be real

Jesus was rough on Pharisees: ‘Outwardly you look like righteous people, but inwardly your hearts are filled with hypocrisy and lawlessness’ (Matthew 23:28 NLT). They put on a good front but were devoid of grace, mercy, and compassion. And Jesus called them on it! Because we live in an appearance-focused society, Jesus warns us about the dangers that come from dwelling on the outer life at the cost of developing the inner life. So, how do you keep that from happening?
