Fire Fighters Visit Year 1 Students

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services visited Staines Memorial College this week to educate our Year 1 students on fire safety.

Inside the classroom, the firefighters engaged the young learners in interactive sessions, imparting essential survival techniques like “stop, drop, and roll” and “get down low and go, go, go.” In addition, the students practised projecting their voices to alert firefighters in case of emergency and saw our fire fighter dressed up in full protective gear.

After their classroom lesson, our students went out to see the fire truck in action.  Excitement filled the air as the students eagerly took turns operating the hose.

They put on a good front but were devoid of grace, mercy, and compassion. And Jesus called them on it! Because we live in an appearance-focused society, Jesus warns us about the dangers that come from dwelling on the outer life at the cost of developing the inner life. So, how do you keep that from happening?
