Guest Speaker – Shane Yarrow shares story on forced adoption
Our Year 10 students had the opportunity yesterday to hear from Shane Yarrow, who shared his personal story of being separated from his mother through forced adoption in Australia.
In Term 1, we ran eight weekly girls’ groups across Years 7–9, with 68 students exploring Radical Jesus—a study on Jesus’ life, teachings, and impact. Year 5 and 6 student leaders also took part in leadership groups, learning what it means to lead like Jesus through the fruit of the Spirit.
Seven of our Year 10 and 11 students attended the first CCM Chapel Conference, gaining ideas and inspiration for student-led chapels.
We relaunched our Mother-Daughter event in Week 10, with strong attendance and positive feedback. A Mother-Son event is planned for Week 10 of Term 2.
This term, we’re launching two new discipleship groups for Year 10 and 11 girls and a new student-led lunchtime Bible group. There are still spots available—please contact me at karen.becker@staines.qld.edu.au if you are interested to join.

What an amazing morning we had at the Student Leadership Summit here at Staines Memorial College! We were incredibly blessed to have Daniel Robertson as our keynote speaker, who delivered a powerful and inspiring message on leadership. His words truly resonated with all of us!
It was also fantastic to have students from Livingston, Groves, Warwick, and Staines Memorial College share also a messages, on leadership struggles, challenges and wins. These young leaders showed incredible courage and wisdom as they spoke, offering valuable insights and experiences.
We are so proud of all the students who represented their colleges so well. It was a morning full of learning, growth, and connection. Thank you to everyone who made this event so special!
We celebrated the special women in our students’ lives at our Mother’s Morning Tea.
What a privilege it was to welcome mums, grandmothers, and mother figures for a morning of connection, craft, and creativity.
