Sports Update
Term 1, Week 6
District and Regional Sport
Congratulations to Blair and Emily who were selected for the Met West Swimming team. We also acknowledge Tara who also trialled for the Met West Swimming team—well done!
We give our best wishes to students participating in district trails this week!
GBC Primary
AFL
On Saturday, all our Primary teams made the trip out to Sheldon College. Both the 3/4 and 5/6 teams played against strong TSAC teams. The 3/4 TSAC team were gracious enough to loan us some players as we were short, which meant all students had to play the whole game. Both SMC teams played well but were unable to secure victory.
Our 3/4 and 5/6 Netball teams had strong games against TSAC as well. Both teams played wonderfully showing excellent skill and determination to both come away with victories. Well done to both teams.
GBC Secondary
AFL
On Saturday our Junior AFL team headed to Sherwood Football Club to play against the boys from ATC. The Staines AFL boys played their hearts out matching with the best team in the comp. These boys have improved and implemented their game style as practised and nearly snatched a win. Well done boys!
Volleyball
Our Boys Volleyball teams made the trip to Ambrose Treacy to contest Round 3 of GBC.
- Inter 1sts
The Inter 1st had a hard-fought game against Ambrose Treacy, going down 25-23 in the first set. In the following sets the boys showed great persistence in facing a quality team. During the game, there were some great serving runs by Jamie and Theo. Unfortunately, the team went down 1-2. Keep up the good work boys!
- Inter 2nds
The Inter 2nd team arrived at ATC keen and ready for a tough game. Both teams delivered a great game with both sides showing good displays of team and rally abilities.
Unfortunately, our Inter 2nd team were defeated by the boys from ATC.
- Junior 1st
On Saturday the Junior Firsts team ventured out to ATC for their match. After going down in the first set the boys show grit and determination to win the next two sets to take the game out 2-1. It was a fantastic effort and all members of the team should be proud of their efforts.
Basketball
Unfortunately, all basketball games were abandoned due to the wet weather on Saturday morning. Thank you to all the families who still came out even though the conditions did not look great. As always, GBC sport is on until you are notified otherwise.

Devotion – Be More Flexible
Flexible people are happy people. They experience a lot less stress than the rigid types who insist on things always being done a certain way. One of the reasons inflexibility is so stressful is that we have to achieve our goals through thinking human beings who often have their own ideas, ideas different from ours. If you’re not the type who is receptive to new ways of doing things because you view them as a personal rejection of your own ideas, ask Jesus the Great Physician to perform some corrective surgery on you…

Kindy Students Try New Foods
Today our Kindy students smelt, tasted and ate some fruit and vegetables that were a bit different or we might not have tried in a long while.
Some fruit and vegetables we loved while some we decided we didn’t.
